Norbert Greving was born January 30, 1942, and passed away September 13, 2007.
Norbert was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willey, Iowa.
He attended class there, and then graduated from Kuemper High School with the class
of 1959.
Norbert enlisted in the United States Air Force, and where he served as an aircraft
mechanic in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Following an honorable discharge on
July 8, 1963, Norbert
attended St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota
for a year, then entered into the Peace Corp. Following his Peace Corp training,
he served as a Papal Volunteer in Lima, Peru. After nine months, he returned
to Willey, Iowa, and was employed by Quandt Auto.
On Auguest 20, 1966, he was united in marriage to Joanne. They moved to Australia
and lived in the Melbourne area, where Norbert was employed as a mechanic for one
of the Australian airlines.
They returned to the United States in 1969 and farmed the Greving farm in Willey.
In 1973, they purchased land in the Elk Horn area, and moved there in 1977.
The operated the farm until 1998, when Norbert became employed by Glacier Vanderbildt
Bearing Co., in Atlantic, Iowa.
In October, 2004, Norbert took a job at Liberty Labs, Inc., and shared his time
with both World Cal and Liberty Auto Restoration.
Norbert was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa, where he
served as a member of the RCIA Team and was on the Pastoral Council. He served
as Vice President on the Danish Windmill Board, was a member of the American Legion
Post in Elk Horn and also a T-ball coach. Norbert and Joanne were licensed
foster parents for over twenty years.
Next to his family, Norbert's greatest passion was flying. He received his
private pilot's license in 2001, and loved to share this passion with the younger
generations.
Norbert was a valued employee and will be dearly missed.
