Restoration Cost Estimation

Because of the variables involved in the restoration or custom building of a project, time estimation can not be accurate.  Examples of such variables:
  • Hidden sheet metal rust out.

  • Rust is usually trapped in many areas that are not visible and can only be found after every body panel is removed and stripped to bare metal.

  • Once found, how long will each body panel take to repair.

  • If  reproduction metal panels are purchased, how well will they fit.

  • Do repair panels need to be fabricated from scratch.

  • Used OEM salvage yard body panels condition cannot be determined until it gets to the shop and stripped to bare metal.

  • Replacement parts from NOS, OEM, and rebuild availability.

  • Based on the above variables, a customer can see how inaccurate it would be to estimate labor, materials, and parts cost.   In general, all restoration projects have a limited amount of funds allocated for the restoration. To plan a well thought out restoration that will achieve the most customer fulfillment and satisfaction, one has to have some idea of costs.  Liberty Auto Restoration uses a general price structure. We have broken down the restoration project into seven categories. Each category has a price range depending on condition of vehicle and the desired level of restoration.

The seven categories allow us to manage more efficiently every aspect of the job at hand. These categories are:

    1. Bodywork

    2. Painting

    3. Drive train

    4. Suspension

    5. Electrical

    6. Interior

    7. Misc.

In order to give you a more accurate price range, we need to talk to you about the current condition of the sheet metal, chrome, interior, drive train, and what your desired level of restoration is.

In memory of my late father Grover Wayne Howard, please take time to visit the following web site www.96th-infantry-division.com. His unit was known as the Deadeye Division of World War II. The Deadeye name was given to them for their excellent marksmanship exhibited in battle compared to any other unit that served in the pacific theater during WWII. My father received 2 bronze stars for his service during WWII.
